A freshman from each local high school was selected and honored by Redding West Rotary.
Redding, CA May 19, 2015 – The Redding West Rotary has annually recognized the outstanding freshman of the year from each of the area’s six public and two charter high schools. As Rotarians we want to recognize these individuals at a young age so they will maintain their leadership qualities throughout high school, college and eventually in their community. Parents of the students and principals or other school representatives were in attendance.
The purpose of the freshman scholarship program is to provide a positive and encouraging award to a freshman that has excelled as a student, academically, through extra- curricular activities, sports, student government or community civic involvement. We are proud to recognize the very best our schools have to offer. These are truly great young adults. Traditionally, our club has perpetuated its interest in this program by having the Freshman of the Year that was selected 3 years ago from each of the respective high schools introduce this year’s recipient.
The Freshmen of the Year for 2014-2015 are as follows: Anderson High School – Jarret Kingston
Central Valley High School – Regan Dias
Enterprise High School – Derek Ray
U-PREP – Holly Nicholson
